Hello all, Normally I do not comment on YouTube videos related to the padlocks we are producing. I am humbled to see that LockPickingLawyer is taking on our padlocks in his famous Youtube channel. He is really skilled and does a great job keeping us lock manufactures on our toes. However, this time I find it a bit unfair as LPL is actually testing a lock cylinder made by DormaKaba which happens to be installed, probably by a locksmith, in one of our padlocks. A type of padlock without cylinder we sell to locksmiths for them to install certified Scandinavian Oval cylinder in. Even though I find DormaKaba to be a fine company I cannot take credit for nor be responsible for the quality of all their cylinders. I do, however, guarantee that the Swedish manufactured padlock in this video is made to the highest standard and quality. Stay safe and secure! @Sharpthings Inspace and that depends on your theat model and set up as to whether it's an issue or not. All security can be circumvented. It's a matter of how you deploy it to ensure that risk is as low as possible and the obstacles / risk of being caught are sufficient to deter or make it impractical. Using that thinking, no one would ever use a padlock with a shackle less than 20mm thick.

I wonder, and forgive me for not knowing if you've attempted before, but, if you had (or have) the welding experience or, manufacturing experience I think, even a little bit, could you produce a lock that even you couldn't pick? These ASSA 700 knockoffs are nowhere nearly as tough a pick as the real item. I have two ASSA 700s in my own collection, and even though I know them by heart at this point I can't open either of them in less than 10 minutes. That combination of tapered and "wedding cake" drivers with super crisp edges on the counter-milling in the core makes them bloody unforgiving of even the smallest tension error.

Oy oldin
Thomas Eriksson
@tsuchan1 Thanks, I have sent him an e-mail explaining this. I have also commented in the 1st level in the comments but given the massive amount of comments I understand that my comment may get lost among the other comments. Yes, the products are individual links in the chain of security. I take responsibility for the "link" we develop and produce but I can hardly to the responsibility for the entire chain. And just as LPL mentions in the video, it is a well built padlock. You realize that once you hold it in your hand. Have a great day!
Oy oldin
tsuchan1
@Thomas Eriksson I think you should post a version of this comment to LPL's e-mail address, on his 'About' page... because I think he'd like to get feedback from the manufacturer, but in a 2nd-level comment among hundreds, I guess he may not read it here. Based on many past LPL videos I've watched, I think there must be an excellent chance that if you post him one of your locks with one of your own cylinders, that he will make a video of it. One salutary lesson I take from your message, is that as businesses we can suffer from what other companies do with our product. Anyway, I really did love the design of your lock, and LPL praised its build quality.

All I can think of is, what if LPL just... became a robber? He could break into nearly anything. No one could stop him.
Oy oldinlohphat
“Lås” means “lock”. FYI, “å” in the Scandinavian languages sounds like a long “o”, so “lås” sounds like “lohss”.
Oy oldinRussel Proctor
In any case, I've just put another lock company out of business!

Normally I do not comment on YouTube videos related to the padlocks we are producing. I am humbled to see that LockPickingLawyer is taking on our padlocks in his famous Youtube channel. He is really skilled and does a great job keeping us lock manufactures on our toes. However this time I find it a bit unfair as LPL is actually testing a lock cylinder made by DormaKaba which happens to be installed, probably by a locksmith, in one of our padlocks. A type of padlock without cylinder we sell to locksmiths for them to install certified Scandinavian Oval cylinder in. I love how he talks about how he dislikes the locks being able to be picked easily, yet shows us exactly how to do it.

I'm curious to see how secure a dollar tree padlock is
Oy oldinNimda
I wonder, and forgive me for not knowing if you've attempted before, but, if you had (or have) the welding experience or, manufacturing experience I think, even a little bit, could you produce a lock that even you couldn't pick? Like that one question, "could God create a boulder so heavy he couldn't lift"?
Oy oldinJan Negrey
Would it be difficult to remedy the problem? Or do you need to redesign the whole lock?
Oy oldindeth502
when you know the intro and outro are about 1:20 and see a 1:25 video from lpl, its gonna be a bad lock.
Oy oldinNukx-
I would refer to this lock as, all bark and no bite.
Oy oldinPoe Territory
How do lock makers keep on making such fundamental mistakes.
Oy oldinJordan Teem
When will the proposed impossible to pick lock from Stuff inc be picked on his channel?
Oy oldinBergatrollet
Fun fact "lås" means "lock" in Swedish.
Oy oldinForever Computing

Q: have you considered making better locks?
Oy oldinAnders Juel Jensen
These ASSA 700 knockoffs are nowhere nearly as tough a pick as the real item. I have two ASSA 700s in my own collection, and even though I know them by heart at this point I can't open either of them in less than 10 minutes. That combination of tapered and "wedding cake" drivers with super crisp edges on the counter-milling in the core makes them bloody unforgiving of even the smallest tension error.
Oy oldinhentai senpai
you should check out stuff made here he made a lock claiming it's unpickable about 2 months ago. would be interesting to see you having a go at it :)
Oy oldinKirk Kohnen
The great thing about this guy's videos is that you don't need to watch them. Just look at the title and the length of the video and you know how long it took for the lock to get pwned.
Oy oldintsuchan1
Yes, not a secure lock. But you have to admit, it's got style. :)
Oy oldinThomas Eriksson
@tsuchan1 Thanks, I have sent him an e-mail explaining this. I have also commented in the 1st level in the comments but given the massive amount of comments I understand that my comment may get lost among the other comments. Yes, the products are individual links in the chain of security. I take responsibility for the "link" we develop and produce but I can hardly to the responsibility for the entire chain. And just as LPL mentions in the video, it is a well built padlock. You realize that once you hold it in your hand. Have a great day!
Oy oldintsuchan1

Hi - I love your channel, i could watch your videos for hours. I have currently upgraded home security and i'm looking for a good cilinder for my front door. A friend of mine advised me to install a Kaba star cross cilinder drom Dorma Kaba with drill proof inlay. What's your professional opinion on this cilinder and what would be your choice? Best wishes from Switzerland

The dislikes are all the locks that have been damaged in the making of LPL's videos, nonetheless still love your vids :D

Interesting that relatively flat bitted Best cores don't seem to suffer from this problem (in general). Interference from the Control shear line?
